READING manager Steve Clarke looks set to leave the club for Championship rivals Fulham.

The ex-West Bromwich Albion boss has been at the Madejski Stadium for 11 months and led the club to an FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal last season.

Clarke, 52, is understood to be in pole position to replace Kit Symons, who was sacked on November 8, after talks between the Cottagers and former Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson broke down yesterday (Wednesday).

Reading is currently four points ahead of Fulham in the Championship table.

Clarke was due to speak at his weekly press conference this morning but Reading have announced it has been postponed until Friday. Clarke was however at the club?s Hogwood training ground as usual this morning.

Reading are without a win in five league games, a run which has included a 4-2 defeat by Fulham at Craven Cottage on October 24.
