KIDMORE END, playing their first match for more than a month, ran out 2-1 winners at home to Senior Division basement side GHANA STARS at Gallowstree Common.
After a scrappy opening to the game Kidmore’s Mitchell Parker took the ball past two players before firing at goal. The Stars keeper managed to stop the ball but spilled it and Mo Davis was on hand to put the hosts ahead.
Soon after the goal Kidmore End’s Parker was forced to leave the pitch after picking up an injury.
The hosts continued to press with Adam White and Zac Tull going close but against the run of play Ghana won a penalty following a rash challenge from Carl Harvey which they tucked away to level the scores. In the second half the visitors started brightly but failed to put pressure on the home defence. With 20 to go Adam White chased down a ball, beat a Ghana defender before firing home what turned out to be the winning goal after 70 minutes.
Kidmore End went on to domainate the remainder of the game and created several good scoring chances but their finishing let them down.
In Division 3 East MAPLEDURHAM ran out comfortable 7-0 winners away to LODDON VALLEY RANGERS RESERVES.
