AFC HENLEY HURRICANES U13s went down to the odd goal in nine away to HAWLEY RAIDERS
AFC HENLEY HURRICANES U13s went down to the odd goal in nine away to HAWLEY RAIDERS U13s in the East Berks League last Saturday.
Hawley got off to a good start taking the early lead after Henley failed to clear from their goalmouth. Undeterred the Hurricanes fired a long ball over the top which was pounced upon by Ben Hudson who lobbed the keeper to level the scores.
Soon after Justus Larter fired in a shot from outside the area to put the visitors ahead. Hawley went on to win a succession of corners only to be denied by good defending from Henley.
Jem McAllister made it 3-1 to the Hurricanes after getting onto the end of a throw in to score. Just before half-time the Raiders pulled a goal back from a free-kick.
Hawley showed their intent at the start of the second half with a shot which was cleared off the Henley line by Archie Barker. Soon after Will Saunders cleared another shot off the line.
Henley then put the hosts under pressure but against the run of play the Raiders broke away to level the scores.
Hawley then took control of the game and nicked a goal with Henley keeper Luke Taylor picking up an injury in the process. Henley now with a substitute keeper couldn’t manage to keep Hawley from extending their lead to 5-3. The Hurricanes won a penalty following a corner which was tucked away by Larter for his second of the match.
