THE poor weather conditions again caused numerous postponements throughout the league last Sunday.

Of the matches played SC UNITED went down to a heavy 8-3 defeat away to new Division 1 league leaders MORTIMER.

Due to holidays and injuries United had just 10 men to start the match with and were soon reduced to nine after striker Martin Shenton was sent off for retaliating to a heavy challenge after just five minutes.

Left winger Arran Finch gave United the 1-0 lead with a 30 yard curling free kick into the top corner. With 15 minutes gone Mortimer had equalised before an own goal from Martin Best gave them the lead. The hosts went on to score three more times to go into the half-time break 5-1 up.

Walid Zaky pulled two goals back for United in the second half but the hosts netted a further three to complete the emphatic win and move to the top of the table.

In Division 3 East MAPLEDURHAM eased to a comfortable 4-1 win at home to LODDON VALLEY RANGERS RESERVES.
