Wasteful Green drop points late on

EMMER GREEN only managed a 1-1 draw against SOUTHCOTE on their Senior Division clash.

EMMER GREEN only managed a 1-1 draw against SOUTHCOTE on their Senior Division clash.

The home side put in a good performance but failed to capitalise on the chances they had.

Green dominated from the start but Luke Donegan, Ciaran Crean, Daniel Donegan and Craig Eastwood all had chances in front of goal but failed to find the net.

They finally broke the deadlock when Eastwood got on the end of a great cross from Chris Read.

Green looked comfortable in possession throughout the game and were made to rue their missed chances when Southcote rallied to grab an equaliser four minutes from time. Conceding pushed Green forward and they looked like they might nick it at the end when the ball fell nicely to Donegan who saw his shot fly straight over the bar.

SONNING COMMON UNITED started really brightly against CHARVIL RANGERS and had a number of early chances to open the scoring.

But it was Charvil who drew first blood, scoring with what was their first foray into United’s final third.

A shot from their right winger was parried by keeper James Phillips and the ball dropped into the path of Charvil’s oncoming striker to tap in from close range.

The visitors doubled their lead mid-way through the first half when a cross from the left wing sailed into the top-right corner.

But United hit back with style in after the restart after a change of formation and tactics at the break.

Within five minutes the deficit was halved by Aaron Attfield who, collecting a Markland Tidswell cross, chipped the ball over a Charvil defender before chipping the keeper.

The equaliser came with about 10 minutes to go. A Tidswell corner was headed off the line by Danny Jakubiszyn to Tim Bicknall whose first time volley from the edge of the penalty box cannoned into the top corner.
