Own goal and penalty miss ensure bad day for Green

EMMER GREEN didn’t have the best of games when they lost 3-1 to DEE ROAD

EMMER GREEN didn’t have the best of games when they lost 3-1 to DEE ROAD RANGERS in their Senior Division clash.

The visitors took the lead in the first half after Chris Read diverted into his own net after the referee awarded a free kick to Dee Road following a controversial decision as to whether Green’s stand-in keeper David Mortimer picked up a back pass or not. Green couldn’t do anything about the decision and went into the break a goal down.

Green then rallied and within minutes of the re-start they managed to grab an equaliser after Richard Eastwood got on the end of a ball from John Donegan.

But the home side’s delight was short-lived as Dee Road retook the lead with a quick-fire double, making it 3-1.

Green had did have a chance to pull one back 10 minutes from time after Josh Beisly was fouled in the box and the referee awarded a penalty.

But their day was summed up when Daniel Donegan’s penalty was saved by the Dee Road keeper.

Elsewhere in the division, KIDMORE END were thrashed 6-0 away to READING YMCA, while in Division 4 East, HENLEY YMCA drew 2-2 away at SIX BELLS.
