The hardworking home side were a goal down after 20 minutes through Murray Bellis but Watlington recovered and stayed in the game with some good defending and fine saves from goalkeeper Bob Denham until the 80th minute.

The hosts’ best moment came when a finely struck Tom King volley was parried out to Duncan Macbeth, whose header from the rebound was parried away by Jamie Kent in goal.

Bellis made the game safe with 10 minutes left, before a late own goal sealed the victory for Wallingford.
