A HAT-TRICK from Matthew Bell helped give Goring Robins’ under 14s side an emphatic 8-2 win against Whiteknights in their BYDL Division 1 clash.
Bell opened the scoring after five minutes and was quickly followed by goals from Nathan Sandlands and Bertie Spencer before Bell and Spencer both added second goals.
After the break, Whiteknights reduced the deficit by one before Klaudius Szescula fired in from 35 yards. Matt Ridley added a seventh and Bell produced a fine curled effort to complete his hat-trick.
Goring then struck the woodwork through Josh Monk and James Pearson before Whiteknights grabbed a late consolation goal.
Meanwhile, Rotherfield United under 13 girls claimed a 4-4 draw against Wargrave Sparks, who are a Division above them in the league. The game was very competitive and played in an excellent spirit. Rotherfield took an early 2-0 lead with two goals from Sophie Darnell but were quickly pegged back to 2-2 with two fine goals beating Ruby Vines in goal.
But Rotherfield struck back just before the break with a well placed free kick by Sophie Attfield. But they then lost Angel Burgon to a foot injury and was replaced by Jess Dixon on debut.
Wargrave started the second half brightly and, despite strong defending from girl-of-the-match Anya Boys, Daisy Green, Courtney MacKinnon and Chloe Catt, scored twice to take a 4-3 lead.
Rotherfield continued to press forward through Lola Murtagh, Olivia Hartin, Nathalie Holloway and Mary Nicholson and were rewarded when Sophie Attfield managed to squeeze the ball past the Wargrave keeper to tie the game at 4-4.
