TWINS Jake and Frank Dillon had a field day on Saturday as WOODCOTE/STOKE ROW comfortably overcame Premier Division bottom club HIGHMOOR/IBIS RESERVES. Jake helped himself to a hat-trick with Frank providing assists as well as getting on the scoresheet himself in the 4-1 win.
Only a good save from a free kick by keeper, Kane Roberts, prevented the visitors from taking the lead. The hosts, following a slow start, eventually took the lead on 28 minutes when a good pass from Ben Rusher was converted by Jake Dillon as the keeper tried to narrow the angle.
The lead could have been extended on 40 minutes, when Jake Dillon’s shot was saved and the ball fell to Mike Higley who missed the target from close-range.
Highmoor’s respite was short-lived as just before the break a run by Frank Dillon and good cross gave Jake the simple task of supplying the finishing touch.
Early in the second half Jake completed his hat-trick with a neat shot on the turn after yet another telling cross from Frank. This goal seemed to spur Highmoor belatedly into life and they enjoyed their best spell of the match resulting in a goal to make it 3-1 on 70 minutes.
After a few tense minutes in the Woodcote defence the result was put beyond doubt after 80 minutes when Frank Dillon intercepted a pass and strode into the area to place the ball beyond the keeper’s despairing dive to make it 4-1.
In Division 2 WOODCOTE/STOKE ROW RESERVES picked up a point as they drew 2-2 away to ASHRIDGE PARK. Mark Pearson and Adam Wheeler were on target for the visitors.
GORING UNITED RESERVES ended their Division 5 campaign with a 3-0 defeat at home to SHINFIELD RANGERS.
