READING FC manager Brian McDermott has made his first summer signing with the capture of Dutch defender Danzell Gravenberch from Dutch side FC Dordrecht.
The 22-year-old Amsterdam-born defender, who spent a short spell training with the Royals towards the end of last season, has signed a three-year contract at Madejski Stadium.
Speaking of the signing, a delighted McDermott said: “I’m really pleased to have Danzell on board. He was first brought to our attention by Brian Tevreden, our new technical director, who spoke highly of him having worked with him previously.”
A 6ft 1in product of the Ajax Academy, Gravenberch had a loan spell at NEC before a move away from Holland for the first time to join Universitatea Cluj in Romania two years ago. He returned to his homeland to join Dordrecht last summer.
Meanwhile first team coach Chris Davies has left the club to join Scottish Premiership champions Celtic as assistant manager.
Davies will link up with former Reading manager Brendan Rodgers who was appointed Celtic manager last week.
