GARDEN designer Louise Venter, who writes regularly on gardening for these pages, is delighted that a garden she helped create has won gold at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
She said: “I’m on a total high, having spent seven consecutive days from 7am to 8.30pm planting for Hugo Bugg’s Waterscape Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show.
“The garden was awarded gold. An outstanding achievement for Hugo. He is the youngest designer ever to have been awarded gold for a Main Avenue garden at Chelsea.
“One of the RHS judges previously commented on my planting style as being ‘my unique signature’ which she has been able to recognise over the years with each show garden, where I have been responsible for the planting. I think we can all appreciate that at the end of the day design is subjective and to quote a cliché, ‘beauty being in the eye of the beholder’. But it is nonetheless always great to receive positive feedback. At the end of the day, there is no higher accolade in the horticultural industry, than a gold from RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
“Well done again to Hugo, and I think it is about time I updated my website and portfolio, to showcase more of my own work!”
