THE Mapledurham midweek July Stableford competition, which attracted an entry of 93, was a virtual walkover for the lady members.

On the hottest day of the year last week Linda Pitt ran out overall winner with a score of 43 points as the ladies defeated the men. Pitt’s recent good form has seen her handicap cut by three. Runner-up was Teresa Taylor carding a score of 41. Six birdies were recorded on the par 3 holes. Teresa Taylor won Division 1 with her 41 points. Second place required a countback on 39 points with James Weatherley pipping Iain Goodall.

Division 2 was clearly Pitt’s with 43 ahead of Alex Robinson on 38 followed by John Roberts with 36 points. Division 3 saw Michael Nankervis just hold off the ladies with a round of 37 points followed by Val Ochonski on countback from Audrey Turton, both on 36.
