Stableford winner has handicap cut to eight

THERE was good scoring in the midweek Stableford competition held at Caversham Heath.

Vice-captain Barry Reynolds led Division 1 for much of the day with 39 points. However, Tim Berg improved on that with 42 points but nobody was able to match the round of Sami Ebiye who scorched round the course to record 47 points.

Ebiye had a blistering back nine of 32 shots, equating to 27 Stableford points. His handicap has now been adjusted to eight while Berg has joined him in single figures, as he is now off nine.

Ross Johnston also enjoyed the hot conditions, his 42 points winning Division 2 by seven points. Johnston had three shots deducted from his handicap as a result. Runner-up was Derek Pavlovic with 35 points and third was Trevor Houghton with 33 points. A fine 42 points from Jose Fernandez-Moure and James Bedding was enough to secure them the Franklin Cup.

Fourteen pairs played in the competition with Kathy North and Sunil Shah finishing second with 40 points. Third were Keith Taylor and Moh Shah on countback from John North and Colin Parkes and Audrey Fox and Mike Day, all on 38 points.
