HENLEY Golf Club held the annual running of the Bursary Trophy in conjunction with the monthly medal last weekend.
The competition was almost cancelled mid afternoon as torrential rain hit the Harpsden course rendering it unplayable, but after an hour’s break the competition was allowed to be completed.
In those conditions it seemed that high scores would be the order of the day, however to the contrary seven handicapper Gareth Morgan had a field day with a net 64 to take Division 1 and the trophy in a round where he accrued seven birdies.
Alan Wilson was runner-up with a score of net 67 whilst a net 72 for Mark Cranstoun was good enough to secure third spot.
Phil Wood took Division 2 with a score of net 66 which was four shots better than runner-up Michael Simpson.
