Brainboys' handicap cut following trophy win

PAUL BRAINBOYS beat 50 competitors to win the Gardner Trophy at Mapledurham Golf Club with a net score of 60. The trophy was competed for by the club’s outright and division winners in midweek qualifier and major competitions. As a result of his score and an exceptional run of good cards Brianboys has had his handicap cut to from 19 to 16.

Second place went to Tsetso Petrof carding a great net score of 64. After him the returns were tight with five players returning a net 65. After a countback third place went to Karen Bridges.

The overall winner midweek October Stableford was John Cook with 41 points from Peter Ambrose on 38 followed by Stuart Creech.

Division 1 was headed by Ambrose on 40 from Creech with 38 after a countback from John Shanks. Cook impressed in Divsion 2 with his 41 points well ahead of Allan Maxwell and Rod Wesson, both on 37. Alan Topham took Division 3 after a countback from James Pike after both carding 35. Third place went to Joan Cadge with 34 points.

There were two birdies on the par three holes, Julie Parsons on the sixth and Gary Barton on the 18th.
