BADGEMORE PARK’S new club captain Terry Denby drove in on Sunday in foggy conditions.

Denby was presented with the captain’s green blazer by out-going captain Sid Davis at the annual general meeting the previous evening.

In his farewell address Davis confirmed that he and the club had raised £4,500 for his selected charity, Walking with the Wounded. At the conclusion of the meeting, retiring president Martin Hawkins welcomed and introduced the new president, Allan Harries.

At the drive-in event Terry and his wife Marion, elected ladies’ captain at the end of last year, were welcomed on to the first tee on a tandem by more than 120 members and entertained by the Badgemore male past captains’ choir.

The members and guests competed in the traditional Texas scramble and the prizegiving. The winners of the Texas scramble were Bernice Milne, John Bowers, Dan Catlin and Barry Stanley.

During his first event the captain raised just over £1,000 for his selected charity the Reading branch of the Samaritans.
