New captain drives in

THE new Henley Golf Club junior captain drove off last week.

Nearly 30 members of the junior section witnessed Jack Fairhall hit a drive down the middle of the Harpsden course.

Before the event there was a competition for the junior section in which Angus Harris-White was successful in the Kathy Sparks trophy (for handicaps up to 19) with a score of 38 stableford points. Stuart Smith was runner-up with 37 points.

The “young Sparks” trophy for handicaps over 19 was won by Harry Tentori with a score of 37 points.

Mairi Weir was runner-up with 34 points which was a point better than third placed Tom Castle.

Following the junior captains’ drive-in the juniors held their annual general meeting and then had theire_SClBend-of-term dinner attended by the club’s president, club and ladies’ captains and pro Mark Howell.
