GARETH MORGAN won the top division in the Henley Golf Club Help for Heroes medal last week that was played in conjunction with the qualification for the Ladies’ Cup competition.
Morgan won Division 1 with a gross 74 (net 67) which was a shot better than Adrian Rayner. Stewart Jenning was third on countback with net 70 from Gareth’s brother David Morgan and Phil Booth.
Division 2 was won by Andy Williams with a net 67 off his 14 handicap on countback from John Bates. This result puts Bates up into the top division. Euan Fenwick was third with a net 68 which was a shot better than Rob Douglas and Paul Masterman.
Tim MacGillivray claimed Division 3 on countback from Phil Wood. Tony Sanderson led a group of players with net 72 which included Nigel Burnett, Ross Belcher and Mike Farina.
The seniors championship was played on Monday and defending champion Steve Webb missed out this year on countback to the consistent Mike Walker when both players recorded gross 76s. Barry Liggins was third with a gross 78 which was a shot better than David Voss.
Henley ran out narrow winners at home to Badgemore Park in the Badhen Trophy. Henley managed to obtain the half that they required to win the trophy at the Harpsden course last week for the first time in five years.
The ladies’ section ran their monthly medal in conjunction with the running of the Norton Cup. Miriam Dalton took the honours with a net score of 136 over the two day competition. The runner up was Helga Keay with a score of 140.
