McGreal leads the way

HENLEY Golf Club held their annual pro-am last Sunday and with a gusting wind the competitors found scoring difficult.

HENLEY Golf Club held their annual pro-am last Sunday and with a gusting wind the competitors found scoring difficult.

The professional prize was won by the unattached Simon McGreal with a score of 66. Three shots behind were Gareth Edwards of Leaderboard Golf and Joe Winfield of Windmill Hill Golf Club. In joint fourth place with a score of level par 70 were ex Henley professional assistants Mike O’Connor and Ben O’Dell along with Sam Jarman.

Local business and sponsor Westcoast had a successful day with two of their four teams entered filling the top and third places in the team competition.

Westcoast 2, comprising Bradley Isaacs, Alex Carey, Kingsley Davis and pro Matt Collis of Caversham Heath Golf Club, won the top prize with a score of 15 under. One shot behind was the team of “Aurally Fun Bods” consisting of Alan Wilson, Ian Heggie, Steve Webb and pro Gareth Edwards. Third on countback with the same score of 14 under was Westcoast 4 comprising Stewart Mills, Digby Rancombe, Jason Livy and pro David Stanton.

In fourth place were the team of “Pinpoint” comprising Dave Griffin, Marcus Lovelock, Simon Ingoldby and pro Adam Wootten with a score of 12 under on countback from the team of “Simply the Best” in the guise of Muriel Quinsac, Rachel Hall, Miriam Dalton and pro John Kennedy.

There were nearest the pin prizes for Ben O’Dell, Neil Kelly, Stewart Jennings, Ian Heggie, Charles Kenwyn-Jones and Steve Webb whilst the longest drive competitions went to Rachel Hall and Peter Lane.
