Little and Snow lead the way

SIXTEEN mixed couples battled against the wind and rain in the 2013 October Vase a Greensomes Stableford

SIXTEEN mixed couples battled against the wind and rain in the 2013 October Vase a Greensomes Stableford competition at Caversham Heath.

The winners, with 37 points, were Suzanne Snow and David Little the third time they have won the trophy.

Runners-up were Robin and Jill McEvoy with 35 points and third were Issy Wiggins Turner and Sam Weller, on countback from Bryan and Daphne Barker, both with 34 points.

Division 1 of the October midweek Stableford was won by Scott Iremonger with 39 points. Second was Andrew Johnson with 36 points and third was Sam Weller with 35 points.

Division 2 winner was Martin Chidgey with 36 points. Runner-up was John North with 35 points and third was Adrian Ford, on countback from John Glass, both with 34 points.

Matt Robertson recorded two Stableford rounds to take the Abbotts Hill competition prize.

Robertson scored 39 points on Saturday and went one point better on Sunday with 40 points to record a final total of 79 points six better than his nearest competitor.

Robertson was one of three players to shoot 39 points on day one, the others being Alec Hone and David Wise. While Robertson kept up his form, the other two did not, with Hone recording just 33 points on the Sunday and Wise 31 points.

In second place overall was Sam Weller with scores of 35 and 38 (73). Third was Carl Bache with 36 and 36 (72) on countback from Alex Easter 37 and 35 (72), Gareth Goodall 38 and 34 (72) and Alec Hone 39 and 33 (72).
