New ladies’ captain tees off

NEW Badgemore Park lady captain Moira Laurie was awarded her green jacket and badge at the ladies’ annual general meeting

NEW Badgemore Park lady captain Moira Laurie was awarded her green jacket and badge at the ladies’ annual general meeting earlier this month.

Players were entertained by June Gaffney’s production for Laurie’s inauguration to her new office. The new captain is known for her flower arrangements and the entertaining skits performed by past lady captains depicted this.

Laurie hit a fine shot down the first fairway and Gloria Sinclair won the nearest the shot prize.

In all 70 ladies then went out on the first and 10th tees to play a nine-hole Stableford competition followed by a quiz and Christmas lunch.

The winner off the first tee was Ann Spicer with 19 points. Second was Gill Bertram and third Margery Dray. The winner off the 10th tee was Pauline Bishop with 21 points. Runner-up was Pauline Standley and third Carol Quilter.

Laurie’s choice of charity for this year’s fund-raising is Wyfold Riding for the Disabled which £142 was raised.
