Eagle helps Archibalds take the honours

HENLEY captain Stewart Mills and ladies’ captain Jacqui McCourt held their charity day on Wednesday of last week at an event that was fully subscribed.

The shotgun start better ball Stableford was won by the team of Caroline, Hugh, Matthew and James Archibald with a score of 94 points. This was helped by James’ eagle two on the eighth, a feat later emulated by Sandie Howell.

The team of Kevin McCourt, Gill Mitchell, Guy and Marie-Paule Norgrove were the runners-up with a score of 89 points on countback from the team of Gilly Hudson, Dave Sexon, Ruth and Andre Jolly.

There was also nearest the pin prizes for Marcus Lovelock and Rita Sharman Crawford.

After the competition there was a speech by Dame Stephanie Shirley and an auction by Mark Howell raised just over £6,000 towards the captain’s charity Autistica.
