MATTHEW Robertson shot the lowest round Caversham Heath has seen for a while in the Weekend Stableford competition.
Robertson recorded 14 pars and four birdies in his round of gross 69 – four under par – and a score of 43 points to win Division 1.
Runner-up was Michael Beaumont on countback from David Stankard, both with 36 points. Beaumont had halves of 14 and 22 points, including one four pointer, while Stankard had halves of 19 and 17 points, but ended with a bogey.
Division 2 winner was David Holloway with 40 points. Second was Lee Kirton on countback from Andy Holmes, both with 39 points. Holloway had 11 pars in his round with halves of 21 and 19 points. Kirton recorded seven pars and two birdies while Holmes had a disastrous finish, ending with a bogey and two doubles.
Matthew Murphy took the Division 3 honours on countback from Geoff Parlour, both with 38 points. Third was Jonathon Clark on countback from Daniel Dover, both with 37 points. Murphy came home on 20 points while Parlour ended with two double bogeys.
Stuart Barnett triumphed in Division 1 of the Midweek Stableford, winning with 41 points. Runner-up was Duncan Mee with 39 points and third was Darren Bonney on countback from Andy Horn, both with 37 points. Barnett recorded nine pars and two nil returns while Mee ended with two bogeys. Bonney had nine pars and three birdies, but had a nil return on the first, while Horn ended with two double bogeys.
Division 2 winner was Brian Connolly on countback from Lawrence Howard, both with 35 points. Third was Mick Biles on countback from Gordon Berry, both with 33 points. Connolly got the nod despite a double on his last hole and Howard was let rueing two nil returns. Biles went out in only 12 points, but recovered to record 21 points on the back nine, while a double on the last was costly for Berry.
