THERE were tight finishes in all three divisions in the latest weekend Stableford at Caversham Heath.

Gareth Goodall triumphed in Division 1, on countback from Sam Weller, both with 38 points. Third was Stuart Webb with 37 points.

Goodall recorded 13 pars and one birdie as he shot halves of 18 and 20 points. Weller scored 12 pars and one birdie, but also had two nil returns as he had halves of 20 and 18. Third placed Webb shot 21 on the front nine but came back in 16 points. He recorded six pars and two birdies.

Division 2 winner was Steven Hughes with 37 points, despite double bogeying the last hole. Runner-up was Gareth Ford, on countback from Andy Holmes, both with 36 points. Ford ended with four straight pars to grab second spot while Holmes doubled the last and also had two nil returns. Joseph Lawrence won Division 3, on countback from Keith Hedges, both with 39 points. Third was Eric Mumm with 38. Lawrence had a good last nine, scoring 23 points, while Hedges lost his chance after bogeying the last hole.

Colin Stoute took the Division 1 honours in the midweek Stableford with 39 points – scoring 22 points on the front nine and a nil return on his last hole. Runner-up was Lee Kirton, on countback from John Davies, both with 37. Davies scored 22 points on his front nine but lost his chance of glory with doubles on both his closing holes.



Division 2 winner was Stuart Barnett with 37 points — 22 points on his front nine. Second was Keith Taylor with 34 points and third was Daniel Dover with 32.

Fiona Ives won the ladies’ Stableford with 33 points. Runner-up was Pamela Stapeley with 32 points and third Lynne Rumbold with 31.
