White receives Killick Cup for best scores

DARREN WHITE is the winner of the Killick Cup.

He recorded the best eclectic score at Badgemore Golf Club through the dark month competitions.

Now, with the return of the white tees last week, we’re at the start of the summer season.

The first of the mid week summer medals saw Richard Butler win Division 1 with a nett 71 from Michael Moore, 74, and Robin Harris, 75.

In Division 2, Stableford scoring, Bob Mushens won with 33 points from Ben Roseff, 32, and Chris Easton, 31.



The weekend medals competitions enjoyed slightly better playing conditions although a hard ground frost on both mornings had the competition declared a “non-qualifier”.

Terry Killick came out on top in Saturday’s Division 1, returning a 79, nett 69, followed by Pete Foster, 81 and 70, on countback from Darren White.

In Division 2, Kevin Grant scored gross 82, nett 68, a clear five-shot lead from Pat Upson, 92 and 73, and Peter Turner, 96 and 77, while Adrian Cobb secured top spot in Division 3 with 33 points.

The Sunday medal Division 1 was won by Michael Moore with gross 81, nett 71, from Alex Harris-White, 80 and 73, and Lindsay Anderson, 84 and 73. Division 2 saw Fred Hanham card a gross 87, nett 68, to win on countback from John Wellman, 84 and 68, and the C Division winner was Tom Stocker with 37 points, followed by Gareth Tandy with 34.

Meanwhile, the A/B Team got off to a good start in the first of the year’s inter-club matches with a home advantage win over Hazlemere Golf Club with a score of five to one.

The seniors qualifying Stableford at Mapledurham attracted 48 members and was won by Tony Gardner who scored 42 points.

Runner-up with 40 points was John Cook who was followed in third place by Peter Wild on 39 points.

There were only two other players who bettered or equalled their handicaps with Howard Cooke and Richard Holroyd scoring 37 and 36 points respectively.
