Rulton and Millard take Founders Cup honours

THE Springs Golf Club held its annual Founders Day on Saturday with the new captains commencing

THE Springs Golf Club held its annual Founders Day on Saturday with the new captains commencing their year.

Lady and men’s captains Janet Franklin and Bob Barker played their inaugural longest drives from the front of the clubhouse with club members cheering them on from the balcony. Franklin hit her drive 178 yards and Barker 167.

Following the new captains teeing off, the Founders Cup pairs competition was held amongst more than 100 members.

Barry Rulton and Simon Millard won the competition with a score of 78 points. Runners-up with 71 points were David Bowd and Gerald Whell. Maggie Edson and Caroline Walker took third place with 65 points on countback from Kenny Hope and Tim Rickman.

This year’s Charity is to be the Wyfold branch of Riding for the Disabled.
