Birdie wins bowl for Robertson

MATT ROBERTSON clinched the Shah Bowl at Caversham Heath on Sunday thanks to a birdie on his last hole.

Robertson had halves of 17 and 19 points, but the birdie saw off the challenge of his nearest rivals.

Runner-up was David Stankard, on countback from Gareth Goodall, both with 35 points. Stankard had a birdie on the 17th hole, but lost his chance when he recorded a nil return on the last. Goodall also lost out when he had a nil return on the 17th hole.

Division 2 winner was Jack Russell with 36 points. Ian Gaff was second, on countback from Martin Chidgey, both with 35 points. Russell and Gaff bogeyed the last hole, while Chidgey, who had looked in a good position with five holes to play, finished bogey, bogey, nil return, double bogey, par.

Paul Perry took the honours in Division 3 with 35 points, ending with two pars. Runner-up was Gareth Johns with 33 points. Third was Jonathan Clarke, on countback from Andy Lambourne, Gordon Berry and Stephen Girling, all with 32 points.
