Golfers can play courses around the world without moving

MEMBERS of Hennerton Golf Club in Crazies Hill were able to try out a new golf simulator

MEMBERS of Hennerton Golf Club in Crazies Hill were able to try out a new golf simulator at the weekend.

The virtual reality device, which features recreations of real courses including the Belfry and Celtic Manor, allows players to hit a real ball and their shot is then simulated on a screen in front of them.

The club ran a nearest the pin competition on a virtual version of the Teton Pines course in Wyoming. This was won by Denise Marlow, who landed within 4ft of the hole.

Zara Bone, the club’s general manager, said: “We had about 30 people each day but because it was such a beautiful weekend people would rather be outside. The equipment has gone down very well and everyone is very excited about it.

“It’s new for this area and we are going to run more competitions when the weather isn’t so hot.”
