Parsons leads way

TANVEER Abbass and James Newport took the honours at Mapledurham’s Midweek Classic, a major team Stableford

TANVEER Abbass and James Newport took the honours at Mapledurham’s Midweek Classic, a major team Stableford competition.

The duo won the competition with a combined score of 48 points. Runner-up was tight with three teams on 42. After countback Frank Squires and David Bamford finished second pipping Peter Ambrose and Malcolm Gregory into third.

The June midweek medal proved to be a tight competition with overall victory, after a countback, going to Julia Parsons who beat James Pike with both scoring a net 67 strokes. The best gross score went to Garry Barton on 69. There were four players who scored birdies on the par three holes.

Julia Parsons won Division 1 with a net 67 followed by Stephen Coles and Gary Barton both with 67. Division 2 saw Pike leading with 67 ahead of Margaret Todd and Michael Loo both on 69.
