Riverside piling

STEEL piling could be installed along a 47m stretch of the River Thames in Goring.

Cognatum, a non-profit company which owns the Thames Bank flats off Thames Road, is seeking planning permission, saying the work is needed due to problems with erosion.

A woven willow barrier installed some years ago has proved to be ineffective as water still gets through when the river is high.

The area would be landscaped and would have a 6m slipway for launching boats.
