Safety ideas

MEASURES to tackle Goring’s problems with speeding, congestion and illegal parking have been proposed by the parish council.

It wants to install a speed table, which is like a wide speed hump, across High Street at the point where it narrows to a single lane. At the moment, drivers often race through this section after waiting for traffic coming the other way to pass.

The council also wants to raise the pavement near the footpath connecting High Street with the Wheel Orchard car park. This is currently at street level so drivers often mount it, putting pedestrians at risk.

It also wants a build-out from the pavement at the “give way” point outside The Arcade.
