Eighth half marathon win for runner

Ben Reynolds, of Vicarage Road
A RUNNER from Harwell won the Henley half marathon for the eighth time.

Ben Reynolds was the first person to cross the finish line at Borlase Field, next to Henley Rugby Club, on Sunday.

Jessica Webb was the first woman to finish the race, while Simon Bradley and Emily Jones were the first man and woman to finish the accompanying Henley Standard 10km.

The annual event, which is organised by the Rotary Club of Henley Bridge, attracted more than 1,600 participants.

Henley Mayor Martin Akehurst started the 10km race and Will Lamb, a fund manager at Invesco Perpetual, started the half marathon before taking part himself.

A number of schools took part, including Sacred Heart and Valley Road primary schools.

Other teams included 12 members of staff from Practicus, a business based in Remenham.

The event was sponsored by Invesco Perpetual in Henley and Lidl, which provided goody bags.

See the Henley Standard on Friday for a full report, the results and more pictures.
