Community centre talk

A PLANNED community centre will be discussed by the group overseeing the implementation of the Henley and Harpsden neighbourhood plan next week.

The centre and sports pitches could be provided as part of the Highlands Farm development of 170 homes planned by Crest Nicholson.

The 12.8-hectare site off Greys Road is one of 11 included in the neighbourhood plan for 500 new homes to be built by 2027.

A report to Henley Town Council’s planning committee said: “It is not known whether Harpsden Parish Council would want to take on ownership of the community centre given that Highlands Farm is currently in Harpsden. Alternatively, Henley Town Council could take ownership.”

Councillor Stefan Gawrysiak said: “Someone needs to sit down and look at the pros and cons of taking this on.”
