What it’s like caring for an Alzheimer’s sufferer

JOHN BRYANT suffers from Alzheimer’s disease.

The 75-year-old suffers from short-term memory loss and can no longer drive, manage his finances or leave home unaccompanied.

Although he can recall his past in great detail, he often loses track of conversations or his surroundings and becomes confused and distressed.

Mr Bryant, of Badgers Walk, Shiplake, cannot be left alone and relies on his wife Jackie to look after him.

She has to manage his affairs and provide regular reassurance.
