THE NHS has published a list of 10 self-help tips to help you resist the temptation to light up as follows:
1. Think positive — tell yourself that you are going to do it.
2. Make a plan — set a date to quit and stick to it and don’t be put off by a wedding, party or any other time when you’d normally smoke.
3. Change your diet — a US study revealed that some foods, including meat, make cigarettes more satisfying. Others, including cheese, fruit and vegetables, make cigarettes taste terrible.
4. Change your drink — the same study found fizzy drinks, alcohol, cola and tea and coffee make cigarettes taste better.
