HENLEY’S firefighters will answer every emergency call in the town by 2017.
Station commander Marcus Reay made the pledge at a meeting of the town council’s town and community committee.
The station’s part-time crews currently answer about 75 per cent of call-outs, a rise of five per cent on last year.
Mr Reay believes that by April 2017 the station will reach 100 per cent cover but says more firefighters will be needed to achieve this.
He said: “We are getting to 80 per cent but we have to put in time, effort and resources to get 100 per cent. I think it is achievable.”
