Norovirus misery hits hospital visiting time

Visiting restrictions have been introduced at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading following a Norovirus outbreak.

Visiting restrictions have been introduced at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading following a Norovirus outbreak.

The hospital says a ?very small? number of wards have been affected by the virus and it is advising that visits should be ?essential? to prevent further cases being brought to the hospital.

Parents whose children are patients may visit but should not bring siblings with them.

A hospital spokesman said: ?We realise the restrictions will be inconvenient but hope that the public will realise the importance of taking every possible reasonable step to protect our patients.?

More than one million people nationally are reported to be suffering from the virus, also known as the winter vomiting bug. It is the most common stomach bug in the UK and affects people of all ages.
