Bug hits hospital

VISITING restrictions have been introduced at the Royal Berkshire Hospital following a Norovirus outbreak.

VISITING restrictions have been introduced at the Royal Berkshire Hospital following a Norovirus outbreak.

The hospital says a very small number of wards has been affected and is advising that only “essential” should be made to prevent further cases. Parents whose children are patients may visit but should not bring siblings with them.

A hospital spokesman said: “We realise the restrictions will be inconvenient but hope that the public will realise the importance of taking every possible reasonable step to protect our patients.”

The virus, also known as the winter vomiting bug, has affected more than a million people nationwide.
