Homes without power

DOZENS of homes in Henley, Harpsden and Lower Shiplake suffered a power cut on Wednesday evening.

DOZENS of homes in Henley, Harpsden and Lower Shiplake suffered a power cut on Wednesday evening.

The cause was a fire at an electric sub-station near Sheephouse Farm in Henley. The blaze caused the main network system to short-circuit. Four fire crews attended the scene.

Most homes were without electricity for about two hours from 6.30pm but some were not reconnected until the early hours of yesterday.

Southern Electric said it apologised for any inconvenience to customers.
