New Doctor at the Bell Surgery

A NEW doctor has joined the team at the Bell Surgery in Henley.

A NEW doctor has joined the team at the Bell Surgery in Henley.

Dr Amar Latif has replaced Dr Virginia Stephens, who retired at the end of March.

He has previously worked at surgeries in Woodcote and Wallingford.

Dr Latif studied economics at university but then changed to medicine.

He said: “A lot of people ask me why I swapped. I think you have different priorities when you’re younger — I wanted to be rich. Now I want to serve and help people in need by being a doctor.”

He is a member of the Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group. He is the clinical lead for long-term conditions such as diabetes and asthma and deputy clinical lead for the area that covers Henley. He looks at health services and ways to provide them across the county.

Dr Latif, who is married and lives in Oxford, said: “I am extremely pleased, excited and honoured to have the opportunity to work in Henley. I’m really looking forward to getting to know the patients and serve as best I can.

“The Bell Surgey has a great reputation as being patient-orientated and friendly, delivering high-quality care.”

Dr Chris Langley, senior partner at the surgery, said: “Amar comes highly recommended by both his previous surgeries and brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge.”
