Festival really is on move (but it’s only the office)
THE Henley Festival is to move offices so the organisers can be more “creative”.
The directors are putting the property on the corner of Friday Street and Queen Street up for sale and will consider offers in excess of £425,000.
The proposed move comes almost 18 months after they agreed to switch the site of the festival itself from Henley Royal Regatta land to Henley Business School only to scrap the idea five months later.
The U-turn followed criticism that the event would not be the same if it was no longer held in Henley and it would be less accessible.
Estate agents Simmons & Sons will market the building as a “landmark” town centre property and both as an office and as a two-bedroom home (subject to planning approval). The festival, a charitable trust, hopes to rent a more suitable premises in the town centre.
