Festival Diary

CONGESTION on Remenham Hill nearly prevented actress Harriet Walter arriving on time to give her talk on the lack of leading roles for women in theatre.

With 15 minutes to go she was stuck in the traffic half way up the hill. In the end she walked on stage a mere minute late having left her car outside the Kenton Theatre — with the hazard lights flashing.




THE cyclists who pour through Henley every Sunday were startled to see a “ghost” from the last century pushing a bike through the town.

It was Tim Moore and the 100-year-old bike that he rode on the route of the 1914 Giro d’Italia for his book Gironimo.
