ALMOST 250 people attended a fashion show at Medmenham Abbey on Wednesday in aid of the League of Friends for Smith Hospital. They enjoyed a splendid show presented by the Isabel Carson boutique, of Henley, with floral arrangements by Barbara Farrow, also of Henley. Mr T Caden-Prescott, chairman of the league, welcomed those present and thanked Mr and Mrs P Stubbs for use of the Abbey.

An enlightened policy at South Oxfordshire Technical College in Henley in which art and culture are embraced with the more orthodox subjects was outlined by the principal Mr D K Pitt at the college’s prize distribution on Wednesday evening. Former principal Mr H R Wilcock, now principal of the West Oxfordshire Technical College at Witney, was the guest speaker.

Friday night was a glittering occasion at the Kenton Theatre when a ball was held to celebrate the theatre’s restoration and to give those who had contributed a chance to see it before the final touches, such as installing seats in the auditorium, are made. Nearly 300 people attended, including Lord Rathcreedan, president of the Kenton Theatre Society, and Mr R H Brackston, chairman of the council of management.
