French test of horsemanship

TREC is a horse sport originating in France, which was brought to the UK in 1998.

It is challenging and fun, testing the skills needed for riding in the countryside — map reading, control of the horse’s paces and the ability to tackle a range of “natural” obstacles.

Competitions are run at four levels catering for newcomers through to those at international level and riders can compete as individuals or in a pair.

The sport is open to all horses/ponies and riders.

You do not need to be able to jump fences, ride a perfect dressage test or impress a show ring judge. Any horse or pony, with some training, can be successful at Trec.
