Hare Hatch used to be part of the Royal Windsor Forest and, presumably, was known for the abundance of hares.

The Horse and Groom would have been a welcome stopping point for travellers that made it safely through Maidenhead Thicket and its highwaymen and it is still a pub today.

Opposite is the oddity in my picture — a hare set against a black background of a bricked-up window.
