MY thanks to Tyrone Trimmings who wrote to ask about this curious building on the edge of the woods in Catslip, near Nettlebed.
Even though I’ve passed the building in Old Camp Road many times, I don’t know its history, although the gun slits are perhaps a clue.
It could have been a maintenance centre from the Second World War camps that have featured in this column recently. It has large doors on the other side, which were perhaps for large military vehiles.
The building has been empty for as long as I can remember but it’s not derelict and appears to have an electricity supply, so maybe it’s still in use. Can anyone enlighten me?
