THE former Henley Cricket Club pavilion can still be seen from the public footpath leading to Remenham woods or from Remenham Lane but, sadly, it seems to have fallen on hard times.
Tucked away behind a private residence, it has boarded-up windows and there’s only a hint of its former glory with the decorative detailing around the veranda.
In a week’s time this whole area will be teeming with people and activity connected the royal regatta. If you are enjoying a picnic on one of the special regatta areas or walking in the vicinity, do take a look at the old pavilion.
The club has long since moved to its current location at the Brakspear ground, next to the Little Angel, where in recent years it installed a splendid new pavilion.
