Hidden Henley

IF you are visiting St Mary’s Church in Henley for a Christmas service you might want to look

IF you are visiting St Mary’s Church in Henley for a Christmas service you might want to look at this model of the tower.

Engineering firm Stuart Turner produced 100 cast metal examples of the tower as collection boxes in 1954.

The aim was to raise money for the restoration of the tower and the models were donated by the company.

The wooden plaque above this surviving box states that Alexander Plint was a director of Stuart Turner and a St Mary’s churchwarden from 1939 to 1948.
