AS you approach Nettlebed from Henley there is a turning on the left that takes you out to the Reading Road opposite the Sue Ryder hospice. Or at least it did, as this road has now been closed.
I don’t know the reason for the action or whether the closure will be permanent, although it appears that way as nature is already beginning to take over.
Visitors may ponder if this was an old approach road to Joyce Grove since the ornamental gates are right in the line of sight at the far end.
This building of extravagant architecture is best known for once being the family home of James Bond creator Ian Fleming.
Nowadays, as well as the fine work done by the charity, it is also frequently used for film shoots, although not a Bond movie... yet.
