PROMPTED by my reference in December to the duck pond in Russells Water being used for filming scenes for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, two readers asked if there are any more such locations.

The answer is yes. This windmill at Turville Hill was the home of Caractacus Potts in the film.

Eagle-eyed viewers will have noticed that during the film the four sails continue to turn even when there’s no wind nor sail cloth!

The mill, built around 1816, is now privately owned and appears to be in splendid condition.
